Scholarships

Each year the AMC awards several music scholarships paid from Endowment funds to the student’s choice of a university music program or a summer music camp. In 2025 our awards totaled $38,750! In 2026 our awards totaled $46,000!

The 2026 Atlanta Music Club scholarship competition was held from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center on the Morehouse College campus.
The deadline for filing an application was April 3, 2026.


Winners have been posted below, plus notified via email soon after the competition.

Please note that all scholarship applications carry a non-refundable fee of $40.

Due to the generosity of the late Elizabeth Abbott Taylor, awards for piano scholarships are made possible.
 
Due to the generosity of the late Ruth Carter and the late Emily Grigsby, awards for instrumental and voice scholarships are made possible.
 
The discrepancy in scholarship amounts between piano and instrumental/vocal scholarships reflects the size of the designated funds. Donations to the scholarship fund are appreciated and will allow for a more even distribution.

AUDITION GUIDELINES:


  1. Only Georgia residents or those enrolled in Georgia schools are eligible. A Georgia photo I.D. or a Georgia School ID is required to apply and at a check-in on the day of the audition.
  2. A non-refundable $40 fee payable to the Atlanta Music Club is required.
  3. The number of applicants is limited to 60, applications accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
  4. The deadline for filing applications is April 3, 2026.
  5. Applicants will receive an email stating their audition slot and check-in time. If you have a check-in time preference, make it known when you submit your application. It is very challenging to change check-in times once they have been assigned. Reminder to check with your accompanist and find out what there schedule is!
  6. Applicants must arrive at their assigned check-in time — otherwise, they may be disqualified. Please note that you will not be able to check-in prior to your scheduled check-in time.
  7. If applicable, applicants must provide their own accompaniment. No taped accompaniments are permitted.
  8. Applicants must provide an original score for the judges. No photocopies are permitted.
  9. All performances should be by memory.
  10. The judges reserve the right to stop the applicant at any time at their discretion.
  11. All applicants will be e-mailed judges’ comments in the next few weeks after the competition.
  12. Winners are posted here, and notified via email soon after the competition.
  13. Judges’ decisions are final. No winner may be declared at judges’ discretion.
  14. Winners may be invited to perform at various Atlanta Music Club events and will be expected to give one performance gratis.
  15. First place winners are not eligible to take part in the future Atlanta Music Club Scholarship competitions in the same age group award (such as 1st place high school piano award, 1st place undergraduate vocal award, etc).
  16. Scholarship money may be used for 2026 summer music camps or festivals or applied to 2026-27 college tuition.
  17. All award money will be sent directly to the school or camp/festival of winner’s choice. The school must be NASM accredited, and the camp/festival has to be approved by AMC’S scholarship committee. We NEVER distribute funds directly to the winners!

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Piano – One or two standard works of contrasting styles and different periods.
  • Instrumental – One or two contrasting, standard works of different periods OR a 1st movement of a standard concerto.
  • Vocal – Three pieces of contrasting styles in different languages. For example, an early English or an Italian classic song, a standard art song, and one opera/oratorio aria.
