Vicente Della Tonia Concert
Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations (CFMTA) is thrilled to welcome Dr. Vicente Della Tonia (and AMC Board member) as our 2026 Piano Solo Recital. All are welcome to attend this free concert. He will be performing pieces by Haydn, Liszt, Chopin, Villa-Lobos, and Lecuona. Biography
Pianist Vicente Della Tonia has been praised for his “technically flawless” playing (EarRelevant, Atlanta) and for performances marked by “impeccable interpretation” and “highly refined technique, imagination, and musical taste” (Jornal da Cidade, Brazil).
Early in his career, Vicente received top prizes in numerous international piano competitions. He has also performed in concert halls across Asia, Europe, North and South America, including Chicago, Brazil, and Mexico City. Recently, Vicente has been featured as a guest artist on WFMT (Chicago) and WABE/WXVS (Atlanta) public radio stations, and as a soloist with the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra and Perimeter Wind Ensemble (Atlanta, GA).
A dedicated educator as well as performer, Dr. Della Tonia earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano from the University of South Carolina, where he studied piano under Marina Lomazov and piano pedagogy under Scott Price. He now serves as Coordinator of Keyboard Studies and Associate Professor of Piano at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College, where he also directs the Perimeter PianoFest. He is also a two-time recipient of the Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award and was named Georgia Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year in 2024.
Vicente is a recording artist with ACA Digital Recording. His debut album features works by Heitor Villa-Lobos and is available on major streaming platforms.
